here we go with mark-henningÆs 2nd ep on frankie recs, 3 years after his promising first strike on the label. a two tracker ep titled ôvick for president epö - we start off with the a-side ôbiggity giggityö - a track of pure madness! comprising a mix of quirky sounds and distord harmonics synths, this is a great example of markÆs ability to combine both a solid groove and a dark atmosphere at the same time.. this song definitely kills it on the floor! on the flipside ômonsterö is even darker and more mental - combining subtle synths arrangements and bleepy fxs sounds itÆs perfect for late sessionsà two beautifully sinister, outstanding cuts!

after a recent guest performance on seuil’s eklo label, michael melchner - the young producer and dj from nuremberg - is back with another stunning ep for cargo edition. melchner is the resident-dj of the ‘kiss klub“ party series at nuremberg’s famous club ‘die rakete’, and music aficionados will have had their eye on this up-and-coming artist for a while now. this time around michael melchner dishes up three top-notch house tracks for us. “you understand“ is techhouse at its best, where he deftly holds and rides that balance between deepness and the dancefloor. a continously forward-pushing bassline is combined with a mysterious vocal sample and restrained breaks. „wooob“ grabs you with its devastatingly simple rhythm, while the bassline cuts through with a high dose of funk. topping the track off we have a vocal loop that shows off michael’s affection to the musical beginnings of house. this ties in nicely with the ep closer »just a skip« which reminisces over the sound of chicago. profound melodies, skillfully arranged vocal samples and a whole heap of soul suggest that michael melchner may just have produced a modern house classic. so again, just like on his first ep for cargo edition in may last year, michael melchner has managed to paint a musical portrait combining the present and the past into one classic moment.

melbourne based junji masayama swerves his debut bearfunk release flying in from leftfield in the guise of his green circle ep. its a fine four tracker for which the adjective eclectic was surely made. smatterings of disco sensibilities, bleepy house, deep groove & squelching synths. green circle leads the pack with all its underground rhythms and chunky synths. monotone radio is a drum led wonk soundscape whilst sponge feet is one for the more uptempo alternative disco floors. oyster rounds things off with more eclectic beats and disco firefly darting keys. one for the varied tapestry that is bearfunk.

the follow-up to last years deep in need, the haunting me ep brings three new soulful and sleazy tracks from dirty bee. since house has been a buzzword for the last year or two, old-timer dirty bee shows the kids that its possible to give a shout-out to the old school, while still finding plenty of room for innovation. the title track, featuring bees friend luther on vocal duties, brings a paranoid vibe that crescendos with fluttering chimes and a baltimore breakdown. on the flipside, things get a bit filthy with out of body: pounding bass with conga accents keep the tempo, while a drunken, off-kilter saxophone solo tries to find its way home. finally, the snarling, electrified bounce of work for me closes out the ep. spread the house gospel!

slang bang is benno blome, the head of sender, and pan/tone aka sid le rock. the duo delivers powerful tracks combining force and restraint with a wicked imagination. >amaaazing< for example sets the records tone with an aura of mystery, creeping like a secret agent on muted, methodical beats, as buzzing synths and foggy atmospheres round out the film noir effect

kicking off with head honcho mark browns mync project and the dancefloor devastating switch remix, next up we have the much sought after tocadisco mix of the egg. the b side kicks off with the incredible dj marky & a sides remix of legend carl cox who teams up with yousef on æi want you forever taking it to a whole new set of buyers. rounding things off we have the newest of the tracks an amazing pairing of sneak & herve which has to be 1 of the tracks of the year so far. all in all a dynamite package not to be missed

brainkicker hits hard again - this time with a release containing a new track and a revisitation of one of his most famous tracks.

asd008 sees the return of alex krueger and a welcome one at that! this oneÆs 5 tracks deep (including a digital exclusive) and includes a pair of fine remixes from londoner-in-berlin, mark henning, ôblasted bitchö is tigerskin at his best. the title cut is a feast of sonic trickery, with sounds playing off each other beautifully to create a wide, dense soundscape which, paired with clipped percussion, clever dancefloor arrangement, evil laugh & crude vocal sample this one delivers tough. henning, a man known for his abilities with sound design himself, takes a darker route with his interpretation which, while still driving, is more of a heads down late night affair û riddled with oddball delays and some unnerving vox efx. ôwhat theö takes a turn to the darkside, moody, sharp, reveb laden and pulsing, the track is real heavy business watch out for that unholy belgian hardcore synth riff a la ômentasmö, thereÆs a real æmomentÆ in there. to round off the original cuts. responseö continues seeing tigerskin provide a straighter groove but one which displays some sterling keyboard work and strong break. finally, henning provides another remix of the title track as the digital only addition all too important these days. futuristic deep, tech-house is about as close as a description anyone needs for this superb final piece of an equally superb package.
